Ross County youngster Jamie Williamson makes move to Nairn County in the Highland League on a season-long loan as Harry Hennem departs Station Park

Ross County youngster Jamie Williamson has joined Nairn County on a season-long loan.

The 17-year-old made his senior debut for the Staggies at the end of the 2022/23 season, coming off the bench in the second leg of the dramatic play-off final against Partick Thistle.

He would also feature in County’s 3-1 win over Stranraer in the League Cup group stage this season after signing his first professional contract.

Williamson now moves to Station Park ahead of Nairn County’s opening Highland League game of the season this weekend, following in the footsteps of Andrew MacLeod and George Robesten who each had successful loan spells at the club last year.

Ross County manager Don Cowie commented: “This move to Nairn maintains our strong link between the two clubs which proved really successful last season and gives Jamie the platform to continue his development at an ambitious team in the Highland League.”

Nairn County manager Ross Tokely continued: "Jamie is really highly thought of at Ross County and that shows with him having made his debut for them in a really high stakes match in the final of the play-offs when he was only 16.

"They have high hopes for him and we are thrilled to have him for the season. He is a player I have been aware of for a few years and I have seen him play recently for Ross County during their pre-season this summer where he has done really well.

"Obviously, Andrew and George both had good spells with the club last season and have gone from strength to strength with Andrew appearing in the starting team for Ross County in the Premier Sports Cup. Hopefully, Jamie can follow the same path and come here and play regular football, find his feet in the adult game quickly and show everyone what a talented player he is.

"He plays centrally in the middle of the park, which is an area we have been looking to strengthen and when a player of Jamie's capabilities became available, we jumped at the chance to take him to the club.

"I would also like to thank Don Cowie and Stevie Ferguson at Ross County for trusting us with this stage of Jamie's development and hopefully it is a move which has great benefits for all parties."

While Nairn have brought in one midfielder, another has departed as the club have announced Harry Hennem has left to relocate to England.

He made 16 appearances for the Wee County, scoring three times after joining from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in January.

Manager Ross Tokely said: "We all wish Harry the best with his move. He is a good player and a good person as well and I really hope things work out for him. I would like to thank him for his services to the club during his time with us."
