Dave Carson is asking for one more monumental effort this weekend – but flanker Gordon Gregor has already sweated out his last 80 minutes in 2018.

A week before the winter break, Carson has excused the back-row bulwark from playing duties.

He feels Gregor, with ferocious commitment and work-rate, epitomises the spirit of Highland players who have willingly put bodies on the line this season.

The Canal Park outfit, unbeaten at home and just four points behind Biggar, can make it 10 victories in a row this weekend if they repeat September’s crushing away win against Whitecraigs.
