The first matches in the 2022 North of Cricket Senior League are in the calendar for this weekend.

Weather permitting, all six sides will be in action tomorrow afternoon, with Northern Counties looking to go one better than last year when they finished second in the table.

They will be strong favourites to get off to a winning start this time around when they host Elgin at the Northern Meeting Park.

It will be a landmark moment for one of their divisional rivals as Fort Augustus will play their first match as a senior Nosca side.

The Abbey outfit, who picked up several players from the Fort William team who folded several years ago, have taken part in the Reserve League over the last couple of seasons but this year are making the step up to the Senior League.

Fort Augustus could not have asked for a much more difficult start, though, as they are away from home against defending champions Forres St Lawrence.

The remaining match sees Nairn County make the journey to Castle Leod to take on Ross County.

Nairn will be hoping to catch their hosts cold after Ross County were given a bye in the opening round of the Senior Cup, which they won last year, while Nairn narrowly defeated Elgin by two runs last weekend.

On Sunday, Highland and Northern Counties are both due to be in action in the Reserve League.

Second-placed Highland will host Huntly – yet to complete a game – at Fraser Park, while Counties will go in search of their first win of the campaign away at Forres.
