Ross County manager Stuart Kettlewell has revealed he is in no rush to appoint a new club captain.

Former skipper Marcus Fraser left the club earlier this summer after having the role for the last two seasons, replacing Andrew Davies in 2018.

Vice-captain Liam Fontaine is still at the club and may have appeared to be Fraser's natural successor as one of the most experienced members of the squad, but Kettlewell insists no decision has been made.

Instead, he will take his time and see how the dynamics of his squad develops over the coming weeks as new signings continue to integrate themselves and friendly matches take place.

“It is a situation where we could have charged in on day one, identified someone and thrown the armband at them," Kettlewell explained.

“We are fortunate we have a lot of big characters and leaders in our dressing room.

“For me, I have made the decision to sit on it for a wee bit and to see how things react and how the dynamics do the group start to take shape.

“There are a few new players who have come in and one or two have left and so I have decided to take a step back.

“I am not steamrolling ahead this week but I am sure there will be an announcement on that in the near future.”
