Jodie Malcolm says Inverness Caledonian Thistle have started as they mean to go on as they prepare to face St Mirren in the first round of the Championship Cup.

The 17-year-old midfielder was the player of the match, scoring a hat trick in the 7–0 win over Westdyke in the opening game of the season in Championship North last weekend.

After a blistering start to the season, the sixth year Culloden Academy pupil says her team have no intention of taking their foot off the pedal at Millburn Academy on Sunday.

“We haven’t played St Mirren before,” she said.

“But we will just focus on what we do and play our best.

“I don’t see why we can’t beat them if we can play like we did against Westdyke.”

Malcolm, who plays on the right wing, is more used to setting up goals for her teammates than scoring them.

But she says scoring three times against Westdyke to send Caley Thistle to the top of the league was the dream start to 2020 for her and her team.

“I was pleased as it was a really good start from everyone on the team,” she said.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season."
