Inverness Caley Thistle head coach Scott Kellacher will not let up after club’s escape from League One relegation zone despite points deduction after administration
Scott Kellacher is not wasting any time celebrating Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s escape from the bottom two – with his focus instead on the challenge of League One’s form team.
Stenhousemuir visit the Caledonian Stadium on Tuesday night off the back of five consecutive victories, with Gary Naysmith’s side looking to chase down league leaders Arbroath.
Three points would be big for both sides in the Highland capital.
For Stenny, it would mean the gap to the league’s summit closes to two points with eight games left to play.
In ICT’s case, they would leapfrog Montrose and rise up to seventh in the standings on goal difference.
With such stakes coming around so soon after their 1-0 triumph in Dumbarton, courtesy of Alfie Bavidge’s stoppage time winner, Kellacher does not even want to take a moment to reflect on the milestone of escaping League One’s relegation places after their 15-point deduction.
“We were in on Sunday training and preparing for Stenhousemuir, and it’s been a quick turnaround,” he explained.
“We’ve not really had the chance, and I don’t really want to reflect if I’m being honest – I just want to focus on the next game, trying to get three points and get further up the table.
“We still want to finish as high as we can and get points as quickly as we can.
“I never want to look too far ahead, but I understand where we’re at in the table.
“It’s going to be a really hard game. Stenhousemuir are a really good side, so if we can get that win it would be great and we’ll try to be as positive as we can.”
While Stenny top the form table, Caley Thistle are not on a bad run themselves, winning four of their last six.
Back on the grass in Inverness after concerns around Dumbarton’s pitch at the weekend, then, Kellacher believes it could be an entertaining match with both teams high on confidence.
"It could be a spicy one – it's a game between two good teams,” he added.
"Gary Naysmith has done a brilliant job there. They have won five games on the bounce - that's some going.
"They're full of confidence for coming up here. We need to be at our best to get anything from the game.
"Stenhousemuir are a very good side, with many very good players, so we will have to be at our best if we are to get a result.
“We’ll be back on the grass, and the fans will be right behind us just like they were at Dumbarton where they were brilliant.
“It’s important that we use that and try to pick up as many points as we can from these next three home games.”
