Eatough impressed by Highland quality

Highland Rugby Club’s outside centre Rob Eatough says he was taken aback by the standard of play at the club, but he is loving life at Canal Park.

Eatough moved north last summer for work, and quickly sought out the club, then about to step up to National Two.

But on first impressions he began doubting that he would be able to break into the side.

“I came up to watch the game they got promoted to National Two in, they played some horrible team from the borders,” Eatough recalled.

“They won that game, and I remember seeing Callum Carson running around in the number 16 shirt.

“I thought he was a really good player, and if he was on the bench I wasn’t sure I was going to get into the team."
