Inverness Caledonian Thistle new signing to get chance to coach at club after rejoining League One outfit
NEW Inverness Caledonian Thistle signing David Wotherspoon will be given the opportunity to coach at the League One club.
The midfielder has been studying for a Uefa A licence as he looks to become a coach once his playing days are over.
Head coach Scott Kellacher confirmed Wotherspoon will receive the opportunity to coach at the club as well as help the team win promotion from League One to the Championship.
Wotherspoon rejoined Inverness Caledonian Thistle last week on a one-year deal after previously being at the club for three months during the 2023/24 season.
Kellacher is delighted the former Canadian international has returned to the club and also says he will get the chance to coach at Inverness.
He said: “We will look to get David involved in coaching.
"He's really keen to get more into that. He did a bit of that when he was at Dunfermline.
"David's a great lad, and I'm really close with him.
"While he wants to pursue the coaching side, he knows he's an important player and he can then do his bit of coaching that he wants to get involved in.
"With his experience, and what he's done in the game, he will really be a help to the younger kids here. That can only be great for us.”
Inverness Caledonian Thistle are due to play two friendlies on Saturday at Highland League clubs Clachnacuddin and Forres Mechanics with both kick-offs at 1pm.
Along with Wotherspoon, among the new signings at Inverness this season include goalkeepers Ross Munro and Logan Ross, midfielder Joe Chalmers and defender Ross Millen.
Several trialists are set to feature during pre-season and Kellacher says he is pleased with how his squad is shaping up.
He said: "We've added real quality to the squad. We want to excite our fans.
"Like they did last year, they came back and supported the team, and we want to see more come back to watch.
"Ross Millen, at the back, will be a cracking player who will do very well for us, but it was important to keep the boys who were so strong for us last season, such as Remi Savage, Paul Allan and Luis Longstaff.
"We've added to that quality and, even more importantly, that little bit of experience with the likes of Joe Chalmers and David Wotherspoon.
"David bring so much quality - you even see that on the training ground.
"All the boys have quality, so we're happy with that.“
