Mason tips Macleod to make a big impact at Caley Thistle Women

Inverness Caledonian Thistle Women’s manager Karen Mason believes new signing Mary Macleod can be a big player for her squad.

Macleod linked up with Caley Thistle, making a goalscoring debut against Westdyke last week, after spending the first half of the year starring for Lewis and Harris in the Highlands and Islands League.

They had won every game, but had to withdraw due to travel impracticalities, leaving Macleod without a team until joining ICT.

It is a step up, but once she adjusts and settles into the city side Mason believes she had the ability to make a real difference.

“I think she can be huge,” Mason said.

“The standard in the Highlands and Islands League isn’t as high as we’re playing in the First Division, so for her it’s adapting to the different style that will be played in our league.

“Her athleticism and tenacity is something that we desperately need going forward, and she had that in abundance last Sunday."
