New Daun at North District Boys Championship

CALUM Daun was the winner at the North District Boys’ Championship at Muir of Ord.

The 15-year-old from Nairn Golf Club lifted the Bain Trophy by hitting a two-round score of 140

He clinched the title beating Muir of Ord golfer Nathan Mackenzie (16) by one shot who hit 141 over the two rounds

Nairn took third, fourth and fifth positions with Finlay Wickenden (143), Ewan Cuthbert (145) and Alex McGillivray (147).

The Nairn Golf Club juniors won the Emslie Shield team trophy with a 428 total. Wickenden was the under-16 scratch winner.

The handicap trophy was won by Ross Main from Nairn Dunbar Golf Club.

Mollie O’Brien from Reay Golf Club won the girls championship by 10 shots hitting a round of 71.

Northern Counties handicap champion Katrina Tan, who plays at Nairn and Inverness finished second who was nine shots ahead of Summer Elliot from Nairn in third.

Nairn Golf Club won the three-team women’s competition at Golspie Golf Club.

Gillian Jones, Maggie Campbell and Isabel Robertson hit a best ball 18-hole score of 63 which was matched Lynne Fraser (Fortrose and Rosemarkie), Elizabeth Coghill (Royal Dornoch) and Mary Hayden (Tain) who had to be content with second place after the count back.

Inverness Golf Club member Kieran MacKay lifted the Abdul Ghani Cup after winning the tournament at Tain Golf Club beating fellow Inverness golfer David Joel into second.
