Clachnacuddin defender Ben Cormack signs new contract with Highland League club after emerging as a ‘leader’ this season
Clachnacuddin have announced that defender Ben Cormack has signed a new contract to stay at Grant Street Park.
The 20-year-old has become a key figure in the Lilywhites’ defence this season after signing permanently for the club last April.
He had already spent two years on loan at Clach from Elgin City, but made the move permanent and has reaped the rewards since.
Cormack has had a big role to play at the back with Josh Meekings and club captain Harry Nicolson both forced on to the sidelines at times this season, and his form has been rewarded with a new deal until the summer of 2028.
The former young player of the year at Clach told the club’s social media: “I am delighted to extended my stay here at Clachnacuddin, where I have thoroughly enjoyed the last few years.
“After what we have achieved this season so far I am really happy to be apart of what will hopefully be an exciting future for the club."
Manager Conor Gethins was equally happy to have Cormack committed to Clach, adding: "This year we have witnessed a player that has transformed into a real leader, a player that’s led the defense in the absence of Harry and Josh over a seven-week period of injury through a run of tough fixtures.
“We can see him growing in confidence with every game, and we look forward to watching him grow even further over the next few years."
