MICHAEL McRobert is looking forward to making the step up into Highland League football with Clachnacuddin.
The central defender has joined the Merkinch outfit from North Caledonian League club Loch Ness on a one-year deal after agreeing terms last weekend.
The 29-year-old has Highland League experience after a brief period with Fort William.
He sees the move to Grant Street Park as a fresh start and a chance to prove himself at a higher level.
“I would say the move to Clachnacuddin will be my first proper experience of playing Highland League football,” he said.
“I have been playing winter football steadily for the last few years, but I wasn’t able to commit to playing steady.
“But things have changed now and I am looking forward to the challenge of playing in the Highland League next season.”
McRobert was part of the Loch Ness outfit which made its debut in the North Caledonian League this season.
After impressing Lilywhites manager Jordan MacDonald, he says he was made an offer he couldn’t refuse to play at Grant Street Park.
“After the season finished, I got a phone call that Clach were wanting to speak to me,” he said.
“As soon as I got the call, I was definitely keen to join.
“I enjoyed playing with Loch Ness and would have been happy to stay there.
“But I had been thinking about having another crack of playing Highland League and Clachnacuddin were the team I wanted to play for as they are based in Inverness.
“I am delighted to agree a deal with them.
“I have enjoyed training and hopefully everything will work out well.”
McRobert could make his debut in a friendly against Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Grant Street Park tomorrow night.
