The forward was unveiled as the club’s latest signing yesterday on a one-year deal after being released from Ross County last month.

Gardyne is reunited with Dodds who was assistant manager at the Staggies under Jim McIntyre for three seasons.

The 35-year-old says he took some time to think about joining Inverness and says the opportunity to play under Dodds was one of the main reasons he signed for the club.

“It has been in the pipeline for a week or two so I’m delighted to get here and get it done,” he said.

“It was always something that interested me going to Caley Thistle and the gaffer being here was a big pull.

“It is exciting going forward and working with the manager will be great.”

Gardyne was one of 10 players released by Ross County after he spent over a decade at the club in three different stints.

He says his disappointment being released is now in the past, and he is looking forward to the future and driving forward Caley Thistle’s promotion charge.

“There are disappointments in football and it was one for me.

“But that is in the past, for me it is all about the future and the fire and drive in the belly coming from me.

“I’ve not got anything to prove.

“I am here to do well at Inverness and that is the plan going forward.”

Speaking about Caley Thistle’s promotion chances, he said: “It will be a tough league this season and there could be up to six teams thinking they can go and win it.

“I’ve won the Championship twice and hopefully I can bring that experience and we’ll take it into pre-season and start of the league.”
