BARRY Wilson admitted Inverness Caledonian Thistle looked nervy in their penalty shoot-out win in the Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup quarter final over Clyde.
Caley Thistle will face either Partick Thistle, Raith Rovers or Rangers Colts in the semi final.
But Wilson, who took charge of the team in the absence of manager John Robertson and assistant manager Scott Kellacher through illness, says it was a performance which lacked confidence.
"We started off looking to get into the semi final of the Challenge Cup and we got there," he said.
"It has been a hard week.
"We would like to have given the manager a comfy afternoon in his bed.
"But unfortunately we missed our chances in the first half and then in the second half we looked nervy and a team short in confidence.
"Ridgers produced a worldy save with 10 minutes to go.
"Over the piece maybe we shaded it, there wasn’t much in it and a draw was right over 90 minutes.
"We’re fortunate to go through on penalties."
He added: "It is frustrating but it’s a cup competition and if you lift the trophy nobody remembers you scraped past Clyde on penalties."
Inverness have suffered illness through their squad in the week running up to the match on Saturday with Wilson saying players went on to the park not 100 per cent fit.
"Jordan White was struggling with the cold, we were looking for a goal and we needed fresh legs. James Keatings wasn’t right and for him to play for half an hour was a big ask for him."
Inverness have not scored in their last three games and Wilson says they will be working hard in training this week to ensure they can find the net against Dundee on Saturday.
"We will work on that in training this week.
"We will concentrate on finishing and working on getting into the final third because we huffed and puffed in the second half."
