Highland Rugby Club head coach Dave Carson suspects Biggar will run away with the National One league title after losing to the leaders in Edinburgh last weekend.

The Greens had been the only side to beat Biggar in the league this season, but got turned over 31-0.

Injuries played a role, with Lewis Sinclair and Stephen Murray missing from the matchday squad before Oscar Baird and Hugo Crush were forced off.

Highland could have moved level with Biggar on 50 points with a bonus-point win, but instead find themselves 10 off the pace – and Carson thinks they will be too much for anyone to handle.

With only the champions earning promotion this season, that just leaves a best of the rest tag to play for, but that would still be a fairly sweet consolation prize in Highland’s first season in National One.

“I can’t see anyone catching Biggar out to be honest,” Carson said.
