Nairn St Ninian manager Mike Hendry says three points at Hall Russell United is vital before they face the heavyweights of the North Super League in consecutive weeks.

Avoiding relegation remains the number one priority for Saints this season with the club currently in seventh place after an impressive 3–0 win over Colony Park last week.

They are eight points above the relegation zone with Ellon United in 13th on six points and Deveronside at the bottom with four points.

A win over 12th place Hall Russell tomorrow would give Saints breathing space before facing the top five during October and November.

They host East End next weekend at the Showfield before welcoming second place Culter at the end of the month.

League leaders Hermes come to Nairn on November 6 before Saints head to Culter seven days later.

Nairn are also due to face Aberdeenshire Cup winners Banks O’Dee who have won every game in the league so far.

While not underestimating his team against the top clubs in the division, Hendry wants Saints to have a bigger advantage over the teams at the bottom before going into those run of matches.

“Our fixtures over the next few weeks include, Banks O’Dee, Culter twice and Hermes,” said Hendry.

“If we can get anything out of those games we will be doing well.

“So this weekend is a big target for us to get three points, we have moved up to seventh and going in the right direction.

“If we can pick three points this week it would be good as it could be backs to the wall stuff for the next six of seven games.

“That doesn’t bother me and you have to play those games.

“But it is a hard run coming up for us.

“We will see those matches as free hits and see what points we can take out of them.”
