Nairn golfer Sandy Scott qualifies to play in US Open at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York

Nairn golfer Sandy Scott has qualified to play at one of golf's four big major tournaments.

The 22-year-old will play at the US Open at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York which starts on September 17.

Currently number six in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, he qualified for the tournament being in the top seven of the amateur rankings.

He will play in a field of 144 of the best golfers in the world.

Scott competed in the 2019 Walker Cup Match at Royal Liverpool Golf Club for Great Britain against the United States.

A member of the Great Britain team, earned second-team All-America recognition as a senior at Texas Tech University in 2019-20.
