Nairn golfer to take on best golfers in the world after qualifying for The Open

NAIRN golfer Calum Scott will play at one of the biggest golf competitions in the world as he has qualified to play at The Open.

The 20-year-old won the Open Amateur Series to qualify for The Open which will be played at Royal Troon in Ayrshire.

Scott finished in fourth place at the European Amateur Championship in Denmark this week as he secured top spot in the overall Open Series to qualify for Royal Troon.

He will now face the best golf players in the world at Royal Troon which starts on Thursday, July 18.

Scott put in an impressive performance at the European Amateur Championship as he finished the competition on seven under par to take fourth place.

It was enough to take top spot in the Open Amateur Series.

The former Nairn Academy pupil, is now in his final year at Texas Tech University in Lubbock in the United States studying Sports Management.

Earlier this month, he also reached the quarter final of The Amateur Championship in Ireland.
