NAIRN County will begin the hunt for a new hitman after top scorer Craig Campbell completed a move to SFL Division Three club Alloa Athletic.

The former Ross County and Elgin City forward has been the star of Station Park in recent years, hitting almost 60 goals in two seasons, helping Nairn to a fifth place finish in May, plus the Highland League Cup triumph last term.

Campbell's wife, former MFR presenter Diane, joined Radio Clyde in Glasgow last year, but the player opted to stay at Nairn and travel each week from Glasgow.

The distance, however, is the reason why he's decided to agree a move to Alloa, bossed by former Scotland, Celtic and Aberdeen midfielder Paul Hartley.

Campbell joins an ambitious club, one keen to bounce back from relegation from the Second Division in April.

Hartley has attracted a few impressive signings, including ex-Aberdeen and Dunfermline striker Darren Young and former Partick Thistle hitman Armand One.

Nairn, who only completed their season at the end of May, have een back at pre-season training for several weeks and boss Fridge will be upping his attempts to bring a forward in to try and fill Campbell's boots.
