Nairn County suffer defeat plus the other results in the Highland League
Nairn County suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Huntly in the Highland League on Saturday.
Gary Kerr gave Nairn County the lead two minutes into the second half when he got a header on to an Andrew Greig cross.
But Huntly levelled with 12 minutes remaining when Callum Murray scored with Angus Grant getting the winner with seven minutes left.
League leaders Brechin City suffered a surprise 3-2 defeat at Forres Mechanics.
Fraser MacLeod gave Brechin the lead after 21 minutes, but Forres scored twice before the half hour mark through Calum Fraser and Jordan Alonge.
Dayle Robertson equalised six minutes before half time, but Aiden Cruickshank scored the winner for Forres in injury time.
Brechin City’s lead at the top is reduced to six points as Banks O’Dee moved second as they defeated Turriff United 3-0. All the goals came in the first half as Michael Philipson scored twice with Kane Winton also finding the net.
Formartine United beat Buckie Thistle 1-0 with Fraserburgh defeating Inverurie Locos 1-0.
Deveronvale cruised to a 4-0 win over Lossiemouth with Adam Reid scoring twice in the first half with Ben Hermiston and Jack Mitchell finding the net after the break.
Keith won 1-0 at Wick Academy with a strike from Brody Alberts.
But the biggest win of the day saw Strathspey Thistle move off the bottom of the table and above Rothes after thrashing them 6-0 at Mackessack Park.
James McShane opened the scoring after nine minutes knocking in a pass from Kieran Chalmers.
Daniel Whitehorn doubled their advantage 10 minutes later and Paul Brindle made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute from the penalty spot.
Josh Race made it 4-0 five minutes before half time as Rothes were left shellshocked.
Brindle scored his second in the 65th minute and despite Strathspey being reduced to 10 men when Josh Race was sent off, Chalmers completed their rout with a sixth goal.
In the North of Scotland Cup final, Brora Rangers defeated Clachnacuddin 6-1 at Grant Street Park.
