Nairn County continuing search to find permanent manager with only three matches left to play as they head to Brechin City.
INTERIM manager Brian Macleod says he expects to be in charge of Nairn County for tomorrow’s clash at Brechin City as the club continue their search for a permanent manager.
At the time of going to press yesterday, Nairn were still looking for a replacement for Ross Tokely who stood down as boss in January.
Macleod has been in temporary charge since, with Nairn County now only having three matches left to play in the Highland League this season.
He is unsure if he will remain in interim charge for the final three games, but has already ruled himself out of taking the job on a permanent basis.
He said on Wednesday night: “As things stand, I will be in charge for the match against Brechin City until I hear otherwise.”
Nairn County picked up three points on Wednesday night with a 2-0 win against Turriff United at Station Park.
Andrew Greig put Nairn ahead just after the half hour mark with Ben Barron doubling their advantage 10 minutes into the second half.
Macleod said it was one of Nairn’s best performances of the season and will mean they go to Brechin tomorrow full of confidence.
“We were really good in the first half with two or three good chances, and it was disappointing only going in one up.
“We missed two or three really good opportunities but I am really pleased with the performance and the win.
“The last couple of games we have been on the wrong side of results despite a good second half against Keith and a good first half against Wick.
“It was the best performance of the season and I was pleased with how we played, especially as there isn’t much to play for.
“We had some young players on the field and a special mention for Charlie Mackenzie who is only 16 and is still at Nairn Academy.
“I thought that he was excellent, I thought he might tire but he only got strong as the game went on and he is the future of the club. Now, we want to go to Brechin and make a good account of ourselves and try to take points off them.”
