Nairn athletes are crowned Top Scottish Club as they win a number of titles at national championships in East Kilbride
ATHLETES from Nairn Synchro made a real splash as they were crowned Top Scottish Club at the Scottish National and Open Age Group Artistic Swimming Championships in East Kilbride.
Almost 100 athletes were in action over the two days of competition as they fought it out for national and open titles across age groups.
A total of 12 clubs from across Scotland and England competed at the event.
Nairn Synchro won the Most Podiums Award and were crowned Top Scottish Club, as they lifted the Glasgow Cup, for accruing most points overall throughout the event.
In the Senior Competition, Nairn completed a clean sweep in the Tech Solo with Rosa Clark claiming first, Anna McGregor second and Abbie Lee third.
The three athletes claimed the same places in the Free Solo with Clark claiming the Helen Murray Trophy.
McGregor and Clark claimed victory in the tech duet senior and free duet categories.
Clark also celebrated success in the Junior National competition winning the tech solo and free solo categories.
McGregor and Lee came second and third in each of the categories respectively.
Clark and McGregor also won the junior tech duet and free duet sections.
In the Combination Team competition, Freya Charters, Abbie Lee, Anna McGregor, Rosa Clark, Isla Allan and Emily Simmons lifted the Avril Dempster Cup.
Nairn Synchro head coach Wyn Shearer said: “The National Championships are the event of the year and Nairn yet again showed with training and commitment you can compete alongside much bigger clubs and win.
“Nairn consistently shows that with application a small town in the Highlands can compete with the bigger clubs in the cities.”
