Muir of Ord golfer John Mackenzie claimed the handicap title at the Scottish Left Handed Golf Championships.
The 71-year-old John Mackenzie from Muir of Ord, who was making his debut at the tournament won the handicap title thanks to a net score of 61. Wallace Giles, of Muir of Ord, was second with net 64 and Graham MacKay third on net 67.
Mackenzie says he only entered to support his home course in running the tournament and was pleased with how he performed.
“It was the first time that I have entered the tournament,” he said.
“I wanted to take part to help support my club as the tournament has taken place here for a number of years now.”
He added: “I saw this year as a good opportunity to play in it and I managed to win the handicap competition by three shots.
“I didn’t have a great outward half but I had an excellent inward half which clinched it for me.
“Things definitely got better for me as I approached the end of the round.
“Conditions were quite blustery in certain areas of the course, but it was the same for everyone.
“I have won one or two things in golf over the years.
“But this is the best competition that I have won to date.”
The retired telecom engineer has played golf since his mid-20s and has been a member of Muir of Ord Golf Club for more than 40 years.
