Adam Mackinnon looking to contribute more in front of goal to help Inverness Caley Thistle avoid relegation drama at end of League One season
Adam Mackinnon says he wants to contribute more goals and assists for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the second half of the campaign.
With the Caley Jags’ scheduled match away at Annan Athletic last Saturday postponed due to the wintry weather, there was no change to their predicament towards the bottom of the League One table.
Although results have largely picked up over recent weeks, Inverness remain one of the lowest scorers in the division.
Mackinnon, who set up both of ICT’s goals against Dumbarton in their 2-0 win to kick off 2025, says he personally is looking to help change that to keep the Caley Jags moving in the right direction before the end of the season.
"I've loved my time with Inverness so far – it is different to going out on loan, but I've loved every minute,” he explained.
"Hopefully I can continue to play in every game if I can keep up my level of performances.
"I need to add more goals and assists to my game, so it was good to be involved with both of the goals (against Dumbarton).
"That's been one of the big things this season for us, when we've gone ahead we haven't really killed games off.
"We need to get that one or two goal lead, but we need to be a bit more relentless too."
Helping the cause in the Highland capital is the arrival of Alfie Bavidge and Alfie Stewart on loan from Aberdeen for the remainder of the campaign.
Mackinnon has been in their shoes from his time across the Kessock Bridge at Ross County, but he is looking forward to linking up with the young Dons – even if there may need to be something of an adjustment period while the new teammates get to know each other.
"You can tell they've got quality from coming through at Aberdeen, and they have settled in well,” Mackinnon added.
"We're happy that they're here to add competition and bring the best out of boys, so hopefully they can do well for us.
"It is a learning curve for me, and there are things that the gaffer wants me to do (with those two in the team) that I probably wasn't doing as much when I first came in.
"You'll get that everywhere you go. Different people see different things, so I suppose it's just about adding to my game and improving as a player."
