Dunfermline Athletic sign midfielder from Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Midfielder Charlie Gilmour has left Inverness Caledonian Thistle and signed for Championship club Dunfermline Athletic.
The 26-year-old has decided to leave the League One outfit and move to East End Park in a three-year deal.
Gilmour made 72 appearances for Inverness Caledonian Thistle during his time at the club.
Speaking about signing for Dunfermline, he said: “I’m just looking forward to getting going now. Obviously, we start a week on Friday, so just can’t wait to start using my feet now.
“I can just focus on my football now and try and aim for the Scottish Premiership.
“I’m just looking forward to having a bit of stability now and just fully focusing on my football and progressing with the club.
“I’ve always wanted to play at the highest level. I just want to, for myself in my career.
“This is a good step for me to take and I want to achieve good things at Dunfermline, I want us to get to the Premier League”.
Gilmour follows former Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender Keith Bray who has also signed for Dunfermline Athletic.
It was confirmed last week that goalkeeper Musa Dibaga decided against signing a new contract at Inverness and left the club.
Defender Remi Savage and midfielder Paul Allan are the only players at Inverness remaining to decide whether to sign a new contract.
Dunfermline manager Neil Lennon says he was delighted to capture Gilmour’s signature.
He said: “I watched Charlie live towards the end of the season. I was really impressed. I liked his style, I liked the way he read the game and was always available for the ball.
“I’ve played here a few times with Inverness and I knew they were a good team from when we played them.
“It’s a big club when you see it and I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans. It’s a big fan base, so I’m looking forward to that as well.”
“He always looked like he had time on the ball. He’s a good footballer. He’s a good size and has good presence on the pitch which will bring a level of control to the midfield. So we’re delighted to secure the services of Charlie. We’re hoping that at his age now, at 26, his best years are going to be with Dunfermline.”
