CHARLIE Gilmour says he is focusing on more than avoiding relegation with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

He is looking at putting themselves within a chance of getting into the Championship next season.

The midfielder says he is not just looking to finish outside the bottom two this campaign and securing survival in League One.

He thinks Inverness are capable of finishing within the promotion play-off zone and extending their campaign past the regular season for a chance of going up.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle are currently in ninth place on seven points, 11 points behind Annan Athletic in eighth position.

With 20 games to go, they are 18 points behind Alloa Athletic in fourth and 21 points behind Arbroath at the top of the table.

Gilmour says there are enough games and points left for Inverness not just to get out of relegation trouble, but to at least secure a top four finish and a chance of going up.

He said: "I have full belief that we can stay up.

"To be honest, I am not focusing on Annan in eighth position. I am looking at third and fourth.

"I know it's all very well people like me saying it, we know it's down to us to go out and challenge.

“I believe we've a good enough team to do that.

"Even in the games we've lost or drawn this season, I feel like we've been the better team.

"We need to convert our chances when we get them. When we go on another run, it can make a real difference to the league table.”

Inverness Caledonian Thistle suffered a setback last week when they lost 2-0 at home to current league leaders Arbroath at the Caledonian Stadium.

They will look to bounce back when they face Stenhousemuir at Ochil View on Saturday.

The last times the two teams met, they shared the points in a 0-0 draw at the Caledonian Stadium in September.

Gilmour says he is expecting another tough clash against Stenny.

He said: "Stenhousemuir are a difficult team to play. They like to press aggressively, but we will be ready for them.

"If we play at our best, I feel like we can get the win.”
