Charlie Gilmour says the mood at Inverness Caledonian Thistle is up since Scott Kellacher has taken over as head coach.

The midfielder has credited Kellacher for keeping the mood positive in the squad following his appointment last month.

Kellacher took over as head coach in October following former manager Duncan Ferguson being axed as a result of the club going into administration.

Inverness got their first win since going into administration with a 2-1 win over Cove Rangers in Aberdeen last week and Gilmour believes it could be the benchmark to a run of wins.

And he says Kellacher is giving the squad confidence that they can continue their good form as they look to reduce the deficit with the teams above them.

He said: “It’s been positive since the gaffer has come in. He’s trying to keep the mood as high as possible.

“There’s been a happy mood around the place, especially the last week. When you win, it is always nice.

“To be back in positive points, for me, was more like a relief than a buzzy feeling. We’re still far behind.

“It is just the start of climbing the mountain. We’re going to hopefully progress and carry on getting the wins.

“I know it is a cliche to say, but I feel like we just need to take it game by game. We need to build momentum now and get those two, three or four wins in a row, which will make a big difference.”

Gilmour says there are similarities in the way Kellacher and Ferguson each coach their style of football, however under Kellacher, he says there are more options up front.

He says that he will adapt his style of play to accommodate that and hope it leads to success.

He said: “It is similar. I still get to play the football I like, possession-based, so I just try to get on the ball as much as I can and try to make things happen.
“There might be more options in the forward areas, so that will change the way I receive and pass the ball.
“I’m enjoying it so far.”

Inverness Caledonian Thistle are 11 points behind Dumbarton in ninth place with 23 matches still remaining in the regular season.

Gilmour says there is plenty of time for Inverness to get out of relegation trouble and says they are capable of a run wins to get them off bottom spot.

“I just think the main factor in this league is if you do get two or three wins on the bounce it makes a big difference.
“Cove won four on the bounce before we played them.
“If we get three or four wins on the bounce, we’ll definitely be up there and we can start looking for more.”
