TROY Cooper says he is delighted to have signed a new deal with the club he has lived nearby almost all of his life.

The 24-year-old midfielder has agreed terms with a contract that will keep him with Clachnacuddin until 2027.

Now he is looking to make an impact in the first team as the Lilywhites are enjoying their best season in the Highland League in years.

Cooper grew up near Grant Street Park as he said he always had aspirations playing for Clachnacuddin as a youngster.

Now he is delighted to agree a new contract with the club after impressing in his two years at the club so far.

He said: “I didn’t need much persuasion to sign a new deal with Clachnacuddin.

“I lived at Wyvis Place which is just around the corner from the club. They are a club that I have always wanted to play for so I didn’t take much convincing to sign a new deal.”

After previously serving in the army with 3 Scots, Cooper, who now works as a painter and decorator, joined Clachnacuddin two years ago.

Cooper has found himself as a substitute with Clachnacuddin at the beginning of the campaign, but the departure of Connor Bunce to Brora Rangers has opened a space on the left side of midfield.

He is determined to prove himself as the ideal replacement and continue their good start to the campaign.

“I have been on the bench for the last few games, but with Connor Bunce having a great season for us before moving on, I can’t complain too much.

“Now Connor has gone to Brora that opens up the left side that I hope that I can start in.”

Clachnacuddin are set to take on Lossiemouth at Grant Street Park on Saturday with the visitors struggling in 16th place and only three points above bottom.

Cooper says he understands why people consider Clachnacuddin favourite for all three points, but they still have to go and deliver.

“Last season we were second bottom of the league, but since Conor has come in everything has changed.

“Everyone is in a good mood and it is a great place to be at the moment.

“Last year we were still a young team, but we have added experience with Joe Mailn and Josh Meekings and Allan Macphee who was in the North Caledonian League.

“Clachnacuddin is a big club and I think this season people are expecting us to win these games and we should be winning these games.”
