Medal joy for Inverness Rowing Club

Inverness Rowing Club men's crews celebrated a major medal haul at the Castle Semple Regatta.

The Men’s Masters’ B Novice Quad Sculls crew of Martin Sramek, Dave Rothwell, Robert Gordon and Jim Smillie coxed by Rosie Arthur recorded a clear win over Castle Semple Rowing Club and St Andrew Boat Club.

It was followed up by two solid second place finishes by Tom Baker and Roy Sinclair in the masters double sculls and Jim Smillie and Emma Bidwell in the mixed novice double sculls.

Robert Gordon and Dave Rothwell won the masters coxless pairs ahead of clubmates Tom Baker and Steve Andrews.

Tom Baker, Steve Andrews, Robert Gordon and Dave Rothwell coxed by Susanne Standish-Hunter won the senior masters coxed four title.

In the women's competition, Heather Gordon won gold with Loch Lomond Rowing Club's Laura Young in the J18 coxless pairs. She also claimed silver in the Women's R2 single sculls and bronze in the single sculls.

Megan Bromham and Orla McMichael enjoyed their first multi-lane regatta, racing three events each with a good fourth place out of six crews in their J14 double sculls. They also raced with two Castle Semple Rowing Club girls in the W J15 quad sculls where they came third behind Stirling Rowing Club and Aberdeen Schools Aberdeen Schools Rowing Association.
