McKay believes Inverness are better than Ross County
Brad McKay believes Inverness Caledonian Thistle are a better football team than Ross County as the two clubs head into the Highland derby.
The fifth and what is scheduled to be the final Highland derby takes place at the Caledonian Stadium tonight.
In all five matches this season, both teams are locked on one win apiece with three draws.
Defender McKay believes going into the game Inverness have proven they are a better team and if they are allowed to play football will win tonight.
"I think its about not getting dragged into a battle with them.
"I think we're a far better football team than they are.
"When we get the ball down and pass it, I don't think anyone can handle us in the league.
"We have proven on our day we can beat anyone.
"When we get involved in battles they can go either way.
"But when we get the ball down and pass it I think we can beat them."
"We know we have had the better against them and these things can happen in derbies. The game we played them up the road we hammered them but couldn't take our chances. They have been tight but mentally it has been good for us.
"When we got the win in the Scottish Cup everyone was like thank God for that because we felt that we were due them one."
Inverness drew 0-0 against Falkirk on Saturday which brought to an end their winning run of three games in the league.
They dropped to fourth place after Ayr won 1-0 at Dunfermline but are still in the play-off zone six points ahead of the Pars.
McKay was disappointed they couldn't move a further two points away from fifth place and says it is vital they take their chances to take all three points tonight.
"I thought it was a chance to stretch clear.
"Dunfermline can still catch us from there so it is important that we get three points."
During the 2017/18 campaign Inverness recovered from an abysmal start to go on a strong finish where they were 11 games unbeaten, winning eight, and missing out on a play-off spot by two points.
McKay says Inverness are taking inspiration from last season to recreate the form which he is confident will see them end in the top four at the end of the regular season.
"We had the same situation last season when we played a crazy number of games in a couple of weeks.
"We were on an incredible run and just missed out on the play-offs by two points.
"It is just about momentum when games are coming thick and fast.
"We are on a decent run so we are looking forward to a decent game."
