In addition, goalkeepers Martin MacKinnon and Daniel Hoban have also agreed to extend their stay at the Caledonian Stadium.

McHattie (25) arrived at Inverness during the January transfer window from Derry City and has agreed to stay at the club until the end of the 2020/21 season.

Having played at left-back and left wing during the season, manager John Robertson says he is delighted to keep the services of the former Hearts, Kilmarnock and Raith Rovers player.

He said: “Kevin played in various positions for us last season and I’m delighted he has committed his future to the Highlands for the next two years.”

MacKinnon has signed a two year extension with the club and Hoban has signed a one year extension.

Robertson said: “Daniel was on loan at Forfar last season and didn’t get the game time he hoped.

"However, we feel he has a great future at the club and, alongside Cammy Mackay, he can put the pressure on Mark Ridgers for the first team jersey.”

“Martin has been outstanding for the youth team for the past two years, winning back to back titles.

"He’s a young goalkeeper that Ryan Esson rates very very highly.”
