DEREK Adams is not expecting Michael McGovern to remain a Ross County player next season following talks with the goalkeeper.

The Northern Irish international, who is understood to be interesting Division One rivals Falkirk, has told Adams he would prefer to continue his career closer to Scotland’s central belt.

McGovern (26), currently out of contract, has been County’s regular number one for the past two seasons following his arrival from Dundee United, but his stint in Dingwall now seems to be coming to a conclusion, particularly after Adams brought in former Caley Thistle goalkeeper Michael Fraser earlier this week.

"Michael intimated to me that he wants to move back down south," said Adams. "That’s the reason why we took in Michael Fraser.

"There is still the opportunity for him to stay at Ross County, but he prefers to try and get a move, so that’s the current situation.

"Whatever Michael does just now doesn’t really concern me. I have two very good goalkeeper in Michael Fraser and Joe Malin and I’m more than happy with them."
