They defeated Alex Barnet’s rink in a closely contested match.

Barnet had hopes of winning the trophy but defeat saw him slip to third behind the Innes Rankin team.

In League Two the outcome was in the balance until the last stones were played.

Bill Shirran and Ian Smith were top of the league leading by one point from Harold Forrester and Jim Seton and with Shirran playing Forrester and Smith playing Seton there was everything to play for.

Shirran couldn’t hold the in form Forrester rink and went down 6-4 and similarly Smith lost 12-5 to Seton.

The results meant a tie between Forrester and Seton and after a count back of ends won and shots scored Forrester triumphed.

With 19 teams taking part the organisers are looking for a 20th team to fill the ice every Friday morning next season.
