Brechin City have confirmed it has parted company with manager and assistant coach following draw with Clachnacuddin in Highland League

Highland League title challengers Brechin City have sacked manager Patrick Cregg and assistant manager Logan McConachie.

The club confirmed on Sunday night it has ‘parted ways’ with both men following a run of poor results which has seen them only win one of their last five matches.

Their last match in charge was a 1-1 draw against Clachnacuddin at Glebe Park on Saturday.

Brechin City are in second place in the Highland League, three points behind current league leaders Brora Rangers.

Chairman Kevin Mackie explained the decision with nine games remaining in the campaign.

He said: "Whilst we are all disappointed that things have not worked out as we had hoped, football is a results-driven industry and unfortunately recent results have not met expectations.

"We thank Patrick for his efforts in his first venture into Management and wish both him and Logan every success in the future."

Clachnacuddin took the lead against Brechin on Saturday with a strike from James Anderson midway through the second half.

But they were unable to hold on for victory as Scott Logan scored in the 88th minutes to rescue a point for Brechin City.
