Ross Tokely is challenging local lads Sam Gordon and Tyler Eadie to keep improving after tying up the pair on new deals.

The Nairn County duo have both signed extensions through to summer 2027, with manager Tokely looking for them to raise their game to another level during that time.

The former Caley Thistle stalwart praised both players for their work ethic as the new contracts were announced.

Winger Gordon (25) has spent his entire career with the Station Park club, with cult hero status among the fans assured as he headed home the winner in Nairn’s 5-4 extra time North of Scotland Cup final win over Ross County almost a year ago.

Tokely said: "I’m now looking for Sam to secure a regular place in the starting team moving forward.

“We’re delighted he has agreed to extend his contract and it is great to see local players who have been at the club for a long time flourish.

"The challenge now for Sam is to add more goals and assists to his game and that is the toughest part to achieve.

“Everyone can see on a Saturday the endeavour, effort and hard work Sam puts in which is fantastic.

“I’m now challenging him to create more chances for the strikers, gain more assists and score more goals himself.

"He is a great player to work with at training and we will continue to work with Sam to help him continue to improve his game because we all believe in him.”

Midfielder Eadie (23) is a product of Nairn’s youth development programme and has forced his way into Tokely's plans this season.

Tokely said: "Tyler is a versatile player who grew up as a winger and has played at right back a couple of times as well as in the middle of the park.

"He has a bit of pace, and is strong and really hard-working. He sticks to his task during a game and he is not afraid to do the hard yards for the team.

"We’ll continue to work with Tyler to help improve the aspects of his game, but as a coaching team, we are quite happy to put in that effort with someone like Tyler because he takes onboard what you say to him and you can see he wants to improve.

“Hopefully having that security can act as a springboard for him to take his game up a level."

Nairn stepped up their push for the top half of the table with a 3-0 home victory over Wick Academy at the weekend.

The deadlock was broken after 65 minutes as Andrew Greig knocked in the first of a double, with a late third from Matthew Wright sealing the win.
