Magician Micheletti conjures up victory from first professional boxing bout

Luca Micheletti started life as a professional boxer with an emphatic victory over Lewis van Poetsch.

The Smithton middleweight, known as the Magician, recorded a 40-36 win over the Bristol fighter in four rounds at Paisley.

Micheletti (21) turned professional earlier this year after an excellent record in amateur boxing as he looked to make the step up.

Head coach and father Bobby Russell said Micheletti looked at home as a professional.

“For the amount of nerves he should have had in his first professional fight, he remained so calm throughout,” said Russell.

“Luca had 38 fights during his amateur career. but this was a big step-up from anyone he has fought before.

“Watching him fighting in the professional ring, Luca looked like he just belonged there.”
