In the 36-hole final, he defeated Robin Fraser by six shots with four to play to land the trophy.

MacKay strolled through the competition when he beat Andrew Hutchison 4/2 in the last 16, Michael Ross 5/4 in the quarter final and Calum Daun 5/4 in the semi final before winning the final.

Meanwhile, in the men’s handicap final, Gregor Reid put in a dominant performance to win the trophy.

He proved too good in the final as he defeated Willie Hutchison 6/5 to lift the title.
