Lovat booked their place in the 2022 Camanachd Cup final with a dramatic victory over Kyles Athletic.

The Kiltarlity outfit got off to the perfect start as Greg Matheson opened the scoring just four minutes into the tie, and Matheson then doubled the lead in the 24th minute.

Kyles would fire back quickly though, with Roddy MacDonald netting just before the half hour mark and Ross MacRae equalising in the third minute of added time at the end of the first half.

Another late goal would prove decisive, but that one went Lovat's way as after a full half of deadlock, Marc MacLachlan sent his side into the final with a 90th minute goal.

Lovat will be looking for their first win in the competition since 2015, despite making three of the last five finals.

On those occasions, Lovat have twice lost to Newtonmore, while also coming up short against Kinlochshiel in last year's final.

Their opponents in 2022 will be decided next weekend as Kingussie take on Oban Camanachd, with the winners going through to the sport's showcase at Kingussie's The Dell on Saturday, September 17.

Other fixtures round-up

Although their focus was on the cup, there was also good news for Lovat in the league as they remain in with a chance of the Premiership title after leaders Kingussie lost for the first time this season away at Kinlochshiel.

John MacRae's 15th minute strike was enough to make the difference there, leaving Lovat 12 points off the pace with five games in hand to catch up on.

While the Camanachd Cup will be the semi final most talk about in relation to Lovat, their reserve side made it through to a final of their own this weekend after beating Glasgow Mid Argyll in the Sutherland Cup semi final.

Lewis Bryson and Euan Ferguson each scored late on to turn the game around after Mark Bain had given GMA the lead.

In that competition, Lovat will take on Newtonmore in the final after the Badenoch giants came out on the right side of a goal fest against Glenurquhart, winning 6–4.

In the National Division, Strathglass could not prevent a 3–0 defeat away at Oban Celtic, but Charlie MacDonald's hat trick against Lochcarron meant it was better news for Inverness in the North Division One.

The biggest win of the day, though, came in the North Division Two where Beauly put 11 past Lewis.

Finlay Maclennan scored six, Marcus MacRae scored twice and the result was topped off by further goals from Lee Dunbar, Calum MacIver and Torrin Cairns.
