Beauly keeper Mackay Murray had a fine day in goals, only being beaten once against Newtonmore.
Beauly keeper Mackay Murray had a fine day in goals, only being beaten once against Newtonmore.

Both teams lost on the opening day of the campaign last Saturday as they aim for their first points of the campaign.

Lovat threw away a one-goal lead to lose 2–1 at Premiership champions Kingussie.

Fraser Heath put Lovat 11 minutes into the second half, but goals from Ruaraidh Anderson and Alexander Michie gave Kings victory.

Beauly put in a stubborn performance against heavyweights Newtonmore who left Braeview with only a 1–0 victory.

Max Anderson scored the only goal of the game for Newtonmore as goalkeeper Mackay Murray had a fine afternoon with a string of great saves.

Strathpeffer outfit Caberfeidh will look to maintain their winning start to the league when they welcome Kingussie to Castle Leod.

Caberfeidh started the season in rampant fashion as they thrashed Strathglass 6–2 at Cannich.

Kevin Bartlett had Cabers 2–0 in front after 10 minutes.

Penri Jones pulled one back for Strathglass on the half hour.

But 2019 player of the year Craig Morrison scored four goals to put the match out of sight, despite Jones grabbing a later consolation.

Strathglass travel to Newtonnmore in the other League B game this weekend.

In Senior League A, Glenurquhart aim to start their campaign against Kinlochshiel at Balmacara after last weekend’s match against Lochaber was postponed due to rising Covid rates in the west Highlands.

Kilmallie v Fort William tomorrow is off for the same reason but Lochaber v Skye goes ahead.

In North League B, Glenurquhart face Lovat while Inverness take on Newtonmore.

In North League C, Beauly 2 take on Inverness 2 while Boleskine face Strathspey.
