Highland Wildcats attend Great Britain training camp in London

Three Highland Wildcats attended a Great Britain training camp last weekend ahead of an international match against Norway.

Daniel Kane, Anthony Daley and Michael Home all travelled down to London to train with the rest of the squad.

A fourth Wildcat, Cameron Fortey, has regularly been part of the GB camps over the last 12 months and even played in matches against Holland and France, but was forced to miss out this time through injury.

The club’s youth development officer Robbie Paulin is delighted to see a strong Inverness contingent included, as it shows just how strong the club is compared to the rest of the UK scene.

But he says there could be even more Wildcats involved if it was more practical in terms of cost and location.

“The level we’re at as a team compared to the rest of the UK – American football standards aren’t huge, by no means is it a well-established sport or a well-developed sport yet – but wherever it’s at we’re reasonably high,” he explained.
