Clachnacuddin manager Jordan Macdonald believes the loan signing of Aly Riddle is further evidence of how strong the relationship between the Lilywhites and Inverness Caledonian Thistle has become.

Riddle, who can play anywhere down the left flank, has become the latest to go from the Caledonian Stadium to Grant Street Park on a short term deal, following Robbie Thompson this summer and others last season.

For Macdonald, creating stronger links with the Championship outfit was high on his agenda when taking over at Clach, and he is delighted with the outcomes so far.

“I think both sides would say there wasn’t much of a relationship between the clubs before, but when we came in that was something we were really keen to change, and we have.

“It’s not just the loans of players that Caley have been really good with, it’s other things as well off the park – advice and things like that.

“We got Robbie Thompson the week before, who was with us last season, so they’ve been brilliant with us and long may it continue.

“It’s not just with players, it’s other things as well off the park that people don’t hear and see.

“We’re delighted to get the players too though.”

Riddle’s arrival continues to bolster Macdonald’s options in defence, where he had earmarked recruitments at the start of pre-season.

Gary Warren, who made his debut in the 1–0 win at Huntly last Saturday, was the marquee signing at the back for Clach. While there was no debut yet for Riddle, Macdonald is sure he will play a big role, adding: “We’re delighted to get Aly in.

“Aly gives us options at left back and left midfield, which was an area we needed an extra body in.

“We said that at the start of pre-season, we’ve only got Callum Black at left back but we know Aly can play there and at left midfield.

“That will push Cal, the two of them will push each other, so it was great to get that done. Caley Thistle were brilliant with us as per and got it done very quickly.”
