Inverness Caledonian Thistle will play against a team of Caley Thistle legends in tribute to Esson on Sunday, April 12 at Canal Park, home of Highland Rugby Club.

Club legends who are confirmed to play in the match include Barry Wilson, Charlie Christie and Bobby Mann.

Esson joined the club in August 2008 from Hereford Town and made a total of 187 appearances in goal for the club, with 46 clean sheets.

He was part of the Scottish Cup winning team in 2015 which beat Falkirk 2–1. He also won a Scottish Division One winner’s medal in 2009/10.

He began his career with his home town team of Aberdeen and gained seven under-21 Scotland caps while at Pittodrie, where he spent 16 years. He also played for Rotherham United and Shrewsbury Town.

He is now a goalkeeping coach at the club.

The match will kick off at 2pm.
