Inverness Caley Thistle head coach Scott Kellacher ranks League One survival up there with Scottish Cup triumph as milestone moment in Highland capital club’s history
Inverness Caledonian Thistle head coach Scott Kellacher says he has never been so proud after seeing his squad secure their League One status for next season.
A 3-0 win over Arbroath, coupled with defeat for Annan Athletic away at Dumbarton, means that Caley Thistle are guaranteed to be playing in the third tier in the 2025/26 campaign.
There were joyous scenes after the final whistle, with a significant number of the season-high 2300 attendance staying around to witness the end-of-season club awards and celebrate the achievement with their heroes.
Having had to compete with administration, and the 15-point deduction and player redundancies that came with it, there were times it looked like being an uphill battle to stay in the league.
However, having secured that accomplishment with a game to spare means it ranks as high as anything else in Kellacher’s footballing career.
"The Scottish Cup win and Super Caley Going Ballistic were incredible for this club, but for me personally, I looked at what we were up against and what we had to go through on and off the park, everything behind the scenes, and this is right up there,” he explained.
"I'm just a local boy living the dream. I have always wanted to manage this football club – I started right at the bottom but it was always my goal.
"I never, ever thought it would happen if I'm being honest. The club, in the need it was, was the time when I thought it was the time to step up.
"I have tried every day and every week to get the absolute maximum from these boys. They have been unbelievable.
"Keeping the team in League One is the biggest thing I have ever done in football.
"I am almost lost for words. I am so proud of everyone, the staff behind the scenes, you don't know what they have had to go through.
"My family have not seen me much. My wife lets me get on with it – she knows how much this club means to me. It has been my life for 21 years.
"All I do is give everything I can every day. To see us perform like that and everything go in our favour, I have never been so proud.”
