Stephen Kelly believes Ross County showed that they deserved to stay in the Premiership across their final few matches.

A 2–1 win away at Motherwell sealed the Staggies' place in the top flight for next season without needing to win a play-off, with just a point needed to secure 10th place going into the Fir Park clash.

It was their second comeback victory in-a-row after winning by the same scoreline against now-relegated Hamilton Academical on Wednesday night.

Before that, County won 2–0 away at Dundee United, making the final games of the campaign the first time they had won three consecutive league games this season.

The Dingwall outfit had been relying on other results going their way after 35 games had been played, but Kelly says the final stretch proved that County are worthy of their spot among the elite in 2021/22.

"There have been a few times where we've gone behind and had to react," Kelly explained.

"It just shows the mentality and the character in the group.

"The last three games, we got three wins – you can't ask for much more.

"Everybody has given their all, and we've got the results we needed.

"A lot of games have gotten away from us when they shouldn't have, but I think we deserve to stay up the way we've played the last three games."
