Keith will use orienteering experience to get ahead in European under-20 Cross Country Championships

Megan Keith hopes to benefit from her experience representing Great Britain at international orienteering championships when she contests Sunday’s European under-20 Cross Country Championships in Lisbon.

The 17-year-old already has two European under-18 orienteering sprint gold medals and has contested one world championship.

Now she makes her Great Britain athletics debut following third place in last month’s trial in Liverpool.

“It’s useful to have been at championships like this with British Orienteering because I kind of know what to expect,” she said.

“We’ve also been given a 45 page guide from British Athletics that caters for just about everything and we are all well prepared.

“This looks like being a really exciting trip.

“Apart from my own individual race, it’s going to be interesting to see how Great Britain does in the team contest.”
