Johnstone aiming to smash her way to the professional game after representing the North of Scotland

Inverness teenager Kim Johnstone has ambitions one day of becoming a professional tennis player as she continues her impressive rise in the game at national level.

The Bellfield Park athlete competed for North of Scotland at the Women’s Winter County Cup in Wrexham.

She played a vital part in the team finishing third in their division and just missing out on promotion when they competed in North Wales.

Johnstone (16) who is in fifth year at Culloden Academy said playing in the Women’s Winter County Cup has been the highlight of her career so far and enjoyed the experience of taking part.

“I played in the North of Scotland team which finished third in the Women’s County Cup,” she said.

“It means that we stay in the division and we did not get relegated.

“However we lost in the final so we did not get promoted.

“I lost in the singles match but won in doubles matches. Overall I was pleased with how I played at Wrexham.”
