Inverness Winter Darts League returns to action

Inverness darts players returned from their festive break with a full card of league matches in the Innes Bar Inverness Darts Winter League and straight away there was a significant result in the A League.

Defending champions Portland A maintained their stranglehold on the title with a 9–3 win over Battlefield Bullies.

Maximums from Portland players Steve Falconer, Gordon Morison and Kevin Wilson and one from Steve McIntyre of Bullies.

Portland players James Fraser and Nicky Denoon had checkouts of 147 and 121 respectively with both players checking out in 12 darts.

Still Game celebrated the New Year with a 7–5 win over second placed Innes Bar C which means Portland A now have a four point cushion at the top of the table and Still Game move up to third spot.

Sandy Morrison had a 180 and a 15 dart leg for the Innes and his team-mate Derek Maclean checked out in 13 darts.

East End Arrows travelled to Nairn to take on Jackos and brought back full points after their 7–5 victory.

Marc Henderson had a brace of 180’s while Steve Munro and Mark Fraser also hit maximums. Mark also had a 13 dart leg and Steve finished in 15 darts.

Tarradale narrowly defeated Innes Power 7–5 and indeed the Innes side led for most of the game with Gordy Matheson hitting the sole 180 of the match for the Muir of Ord side.

Innes Spikeys continued their relentless campaign in the B League with a 7–5 win over Innes Bar and remain unbeaten.

Liam MacAskill notched a 180 for the Spikeys.

Castle Street Elite defeated Blacksmiths 7–5 and stay just two points adrift of the Spikeys at the top of the league.

Mike Hillan hit a 180 for Blacksmiths.

The final match in the B League was a 6–6 tie between British Legion and Thistle Inn.

Maximums came from Thistle players James McCabe and Robert Robson while David Stuart of the Legion had a 108 checkout.

It’s still all level at the top of the C League as both Canteen and Arrowsmiths record wins.

Canteen took out Innes X 10–2 while Arrowsmiths had a 7–5 victory over the Keppoch Belles.

Joe Longmore and Graham Buchan both hit 180’s for the Canteen.

Raigmore recorded a 9–3 win over Blazin 81 while 3 Scots had a massive 11–1 result against SoBar Pirates.
