Inverness Shinty Club look to lift silverware in Challenge Cup final
INVERNESS Shinty Club will look to overcome their final hurdle and lift silverware when they take on Badenoch in the Mowi Challenge Cup final tomorrow.
The two teams are set to go head to head at The Eilan in Newtonmore with throw-up at 1.10pm with the Valerie Fraser Camanachd Final taking place between Badenoch’s first team and Lochaber at 4.10pm.
Inverness reached the final of the Challenge Cup last season when they lost to Kinlochshiel.
Head coach Drew McNeil says Inverness will be looking to go one better and lift the trophy tomorrow afternoon. He says they will go into the match full of confidence, having learned the lessons from last year, and look to lift the trophy at full time.
“Last year we faced an extremely strong team in Kinlochshiel who were ready for the next level,” he said.
“We have a young team and we are confident that they can do well in the final.
“As well as the result it is more important the way that we play too.
“Badenoch are a quality outfit who have teams both in finals.
“The quality of teams can vary from week to week as coaches try to develop their senior teams.
“But this Saturday, everyone will be playing their best teams. It will be a great game and everyone will be looking forward to it.”
Most of the shinty calendar is on hold to showcase the women’s finals. However, the Caol Cup - Under-21 Representative Match between North and South is set to take place in Kiltarlity at 2.30pm.
Top players from the north and south region will be taking each other on at Balgate.
Only one league match takes place tonight in North Division One as Kinlochshiel take on Skye.
