Inverness rowers compete at Scottish Rowing Championships in Hamilton





INVERNESS Rowing Club celebrated success at the Scottish Rowing Championships which took place at Strathclyde Park in Hamilton.

Andy Dobson and Steven Andrews claimed the Masters C-E 2- title and Shay Hammock and Robin Roxburgh won in the J14 2x category.

There was also success in the B finals Adrian Hopkins and Tim Latham in the novice pairs, and Lynne Sproull, Nadya Chasheva, Janet Bromham, Lesley Ronald & Jude McManus in the novice quads.

There was also impressive performances in the singles with Steven Andrews taking silver in the novice category, only losing out by 0.76 seconds.

Sam Roxburgh then took a strong bronze in the J16 1x, racing in a composite field including J18 and Open category rowers, a number of whom he beat. One of the most exciting races of the day featured Inverness sculler Shay Hammock who was edged out of second place by just 0.05 seconds and was only 0.69 seconds away from first place in a race in which the lead was constantly changing.
