Inverness Rollerbowl youngsters strike up some fun representing Scotland in Ireland

SIX Inverness youngsters are just back this week from representing Scotland at an international tenpin bowling event in Ireland.

They are Orla Anderson (U15 Girls), Jason Aubin and Kerim Yavuz (both U15 Boys), Aiden Smith (U18 Boys), Alice Robertson (U18 Girls) and Robyn MacDonald (U15 Girls Reserve) who all bowl at Rollerbowl Youth Bowling club in Culduthel Road.

Teams from England, Iceland, Northern Ireland, Ireland and Scotland took part in the Youth Triple Crown event in Dublin. The event, organised by the British Tenpin Bowling Association (BTBA), ran from August 21 to 25.

The 18-strong Inverness club (aged from 9-17) have already made waves in 2024. At the Scottish national championships in Ayr they achieved 20 podium places from 47 available

Rollerbowl Youth Bowling Club is one of the biggest bowling clubs in Scotland. It boasts seven Level One Coaches, all made up of parents of the bowlers, and recently one coach achieved Level Two.

The club’s shirt sponsor is Dicksons of Inverness where sales director Jim MacKenzie said: “We are really happy to be able to help out the young bowlers and we are delighted by their success this year. It’s a fun sport and fosters great team spirit which is an invaluable life lesson.”

Rollerbowl is hosting a 24hour Bowl-A-thon in September to support the club and raise vital funds to help it achieve its ambitions in addition to the vital support its sponsors provide.
